My fictional boyfriend for this week is a definite bad boy. I chose Alex Fuentes from Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles. SpellBound by Cara Lynn Schultz

I had been eyeing this book for awhile after all the fantastic advanced reader reviews and I finally was able to recieve my own copy from NetGalley! Special thanks to them for letting me review it!

ebook, 344 pages
Publication by Harlequin

Source: My first book from NetGalley**
What's a girl to do when meeting The One means she's cursed to die a horrible death?
Life hasn't been easy on sixteen-year-old Emma Conner, so a new start in New York may be just the change she needs. But the posh Upper East Side prep school she has to attend? Not so much. Friendly faces are few and far between, except for one that she's irresistibly drawn to—Brendan Salinger, the guy with the rock-star good looks and the richest kid in school, who might just be her very own white knight.
But even when Brendan inexplicably turns cold, Emma can't stop staring. Ever since she laid eyes on him, strange things have been happening. Streetlamps go out wherever she walks, and Emma's been having the oddest dreams: visions of herself in past lives—visions that warn her to stay away from Brendan. Or else.

*MY THOUGHTS*
I really enjoyed this book, just like I knew I would. Although the book blurb made it sound like Fallen without the angels something that had been done before, I still wanted to chance it and see what all the hype was about from the other reviewers. So I recieved my copy and began reading it as soon as I could. It was one book I could not put down. There were many things I liked about the book. One of the big things I loved was Emma's sense of humor and sarcastic nature. It reminded me of myself. I also loved the love story. Their love is so real and magical (no pun intended) and Schultz defintely made Brendan swoon-worthy. This brings me to another point. Although romance played a huge role in this book, Schultz does not over do it and they are not instantly in love. There is a kind of "run around" in the initial stages of the relationship and I appreciated that. I love a good fight for the one you truly love. As for things I didn't like, there wasn't many, just one small thing.... With me being an English minor, I caught a few editing mistakes, but I'll just say that was due to it being an ebook ARC.
Overall, I give this **** (4 out of 5)

**FTC Disclosure: I recieved this egalley from NetGalley. I do not recieve payment of any kind in excahnge for a review. I do not recieve monetary compensation from any book links in my review.

This is one book that I have been waiting on forever to read from NetGalley and I finally got it a few days ago. I'm almost finished with it now so expect a review soon. Today's teaser comes from "Spellbound" by Cara Lynn Schultz

Hereafter by Tara Hudson

Hardcover, 416 pages
Published June 7th 2011
 HarperCollins
Hereafter #1
Source: Bought

Can there truly be love after death?
Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.
Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.
Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.

*MY THOUGHTS*
First things first, as you can see, this cover is GORGEOUS. I promise you, it looks even better in person. The greens and blues and aquas are to "die" for. (No pun intended lol) That in addition to the ghostly girl on the front that's overlooking the lake set the tone for the story. If you can't tell by now, I do indeed judge a book by its cover. I know I shouldn't, but I do. This is the reason I clicked on it to read the blurb on goodreads in the first place.
As for the story, I really enjoyed it. The love story between Josh and Amelia is epic. The only thing I did not like was the "instantaneous" love between them. I like a good fight for love. But the story was still romantic. Even though it opened with Josh's drowning, it DID take me awhile to get into the book (about 2/3 of it), but once I did, I couldn't put it down. The addition of the "evil spirit" was just the pick up the book needed. After that, I was sold.
The thing I most enjoyed was her language and use of detail. The way she described Josh's drowning, his backyard, and their first kiss was amazing. Tara Hudson did a great job to be a debut author! I look forward to reading the next book in the series :)
Overall, I give this **** (4 out of 5)

Sidenote: This book reminded me of an episode of one of my favorite television shows, Supernatural. Season 1, episode 3. If you get a chance, you can check it out on Netflix :)

Fan Art Friday #2 & Book Blogger Hop #1

For FAF I couldn't find anything on my current read "Hereafter" by Tara Hudson because it's a fairly new release, so I went to my recently finished book, "Perfect Chemistry" by Simone Elkeles.

"Just do it," she says, sensing my hesitation.
So I do, but when she sucks in a breath, I just wish I could take the pain away from her.
She sniffs and wipes a tear that's running down her cheek. Seeing her that emotional is my undoing. For the first time since I saw my dad lying dead in front of me, a tear drops from my eye.
She holds my head in her hands and kisses my tear away.
"It's okay, Alex."

This was from onlymistress over at deviantart.com. It really is beautiful and the scene that she chose it to go with is one of my favorites. This is exactly how I saw the scene in my mind's eye. Cheers to you onlymistress! Thank you for your beautiful artwork.

Now, I told myself I wouldn't take up anymore weekly meme's because now I have one for four days of the week, but today the question from one of the more popular meme's caught my eye and I HAD to do it.

Book Blogger Hop

This meme comes from Jen over at  Crazy For Books :) In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

This week's question:

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”

Reading has always been a major part of my life. Even before I was born my mother would read to me every night. Then when I was born, the readings continued. Then at age four, I somehow taught myself to read. Maybe it was all the years of following along with my mother that I memorized the words and as I went to school I learned phonetics, but I really have no memory of exactly how I learned. I realized reading was my passion when I went to kindergarten and my mother had to come in for a parent /teacher conference because my teacher thought my mom had been reading my "early readers to me." She said I wasn't paying attention to the lessons and was disturbing the other kids. In reality, I was reading them to myself. After that my addiction to reading spiraled out of control. I read something every day, even if it was just the cereal box.

Some of the books I enjoyed as a kid/adolescent were: The Baby-Sitter's Club, Harry Potter (I started it in the 5th grade lol), and Good Night Moon.

My Babysitter's a Vampire

While babysitting my 8 year old cousin, she says she "has" to watch the Disney Channel because a movie she wants to watch "sooooo bad" is coming on.... I say ok and put it on and low and behold, the name of the movie is "My Baby-Sitter's a Vampire."

Because it said vampire, it caught my interest, so I made us some popcorn and I watched it with her. It's still on as we speak, but I could not sit here and not tell you guys about it. It's about a movie that is sweeping the nation called "DUSK III: UNBITTEN" and its about a vampire and a human romance.... Sound familiar???? Lmao I've been laughing and rolling my eyes the ENTIRE movie. It's also showed a girl who's totally obsessed with the movies (much like with the real Twilight) and the movie (Unbitten I mean) features a a vampire who is able to go in and out her window when they're talking, he sparkles in light, and he has super speed. I swear, this movie is terrible, but my cousin (who's never read the series or seen the movies) is loving it. I don't have the heart to break it to her lol

Anyways with the movie craze still going on, the big brother of the girl being "babysat" proves unfit to watch his little sister, so their parents hire someone to do it. In the end the babysitter turns out to be a "vampire fledgling" and the grandmother of the best friend is an "Earth priestess." (House of Night series in here too smh) The fledging, who's "fighting her hunger that's getting stronger and stronger" is also trying to stop "Jesse" her now EX boyfriend who is a "REAL" vampire. I'm only watching it now to entertain her. Some one please shoot me now!

Don't believe it's that bad? Check out a trailer I found on Youtube of the "movies" Dusk amd Unbitten.

Pottermore :)

So the news of Pottermore has just been announced! (About 2 hrs ago) And it isn't a real life scavenger hunt like some people thought yesterday. It's actually a website where J .K.Rowling and her fans work together to create more stories centered around Harry and his world. With help from the the-leaky-cauldron.org it's been deciphered that Pottermore is:
  • An interactive new web site and reading experience with more than 18,000 new words from J.K. Rowling: Much more to come.
  • JKR behind the scenes filming the video picture.
  • An online experience to read, interact with and share the Harry Potter stories. Exclusive writing from J.K. Rowling and more.
  • Pottermore will feature information J.K. Rowling has been “hoarding” for years about Harry Potter.
  • Pottermore will be the exclusive place to purchase the digital audio books and, at last, eBooks of the Harry Potter series.
  • Pottermore was developed in association with the leading digital company, TH_NK
  • Pottermore was also created in partnership with Sony
  • One million fans will get access to a beta on July 31, Harry’s birthday. It will be open for all in October 2011.
  • J.K. Rowling said this morning that there is a lot more content to come for the Pottermore site, and she will develop it as it grows.
  • You will follow the story, get sorted into a house and get a wand (one of 33,000 possible combinations) – all crafted by JKR.
  • JKR is excited to include a long backstory on McGonagall – her childhood, ministry career, early heartbreak…
  • JKR said if you’re not sorted into Gryffindor you get even more exclusive content about your house.
  • Chamber of Secrets story to debut in 2012.
  • There will be info on Minerva McGonagall’s long friendship with Dumbledore
  • Also mentioned that Vernon and Petunia met at work, backstory also on Pottermore.
Kind of like all the websites about Harry now, except Rowling is actually participating here. I know I probably didn't do the actual site justice, so have a look at the video yourself :)

I must admit, its not what I expected though... But I'll still be entering my e-mail to recieve newsletters lol

Book Boyfriend #3

 Book Boyfriend:

One of my favourite blogs The Unread reader came up with the ADORABLE idea of My book boyfriend. Basically every wednesday i tell you about which fictional boy im crushing on. If your interested in doing this on your blog go to the introduction post on The unread reader.

This week I had a really hard time deciding who I would use because I've been on a "romance overload." But I finally made up my mind to use one of the dudes that has captured my heart as well as a "team" button here on my blog. That man is

Renier LaRoche AKA Ren

He's from Nightshade by Andrea Cremer and he's the perfect all around bad boy. Now I have to admit I had a tough time deciding which "team" I wanted to be on, but when I did, I knew I made the right decision because he's a well... "alpha male." (no pun intended lol) I need someone to take charge. And who else wouldn't want someone who makes your skin tingle everytime he touched you *swoon*

Facts about Ren:
  • He's the alpha wolf of the Bane pack
  • Black hair
  • Black eyes with silver flecks
  • Tall and muscular
  • Smells of leather and sandalwood
  • Gray and black in wolf form
To play MY Ren, I've chosen Craig Horner
Quotes/Scenes to make you "hold your heart and say awwwwww":

"I don't think so, Lily," he said. "If you want to get rid of me, you'll need to do better than that." I drew a sharp breath and tried to wiggle away, but he held me firmly in place, watching me struggle. He grinned as he lifted me up onto the sink.
"What are you doing?" I started to panic. "Someone could come in."
"If they see us, theyll just turn around and get out of here," he murmured, lips touching my ear. "No one crosses me."
His hips pressed againsst my knees, opening them, pushing my skirt up my legs. I gripped his shirt, clinging to him so I wouldn't fall into the sink. His hand pushed into my lower back. I gasped as his body fitted against mine.
Heat flooded into my chest, my pelvis. I thought I would drown in it.
"We can't-" His lips stopped my words. The kiss just made me dizzier. I dug my fingers into his shoulders.
"You said you didn't want to be left alone." His tongue flicked over my cheekbone. "This is me pestering you."
Aren't you breaking the rules?" I could barely get the words out. "What about the union?"
I'd rather have you on my own terms." his hand slipped between my thighs.
All strength fled my limbs. I can't breathe."
"That means you like it." He kissed me again"

"Ren stroked my knee, his fingers wandering up my thigh, sliding beneath the hem of my dress.
I grabbed his wrist. "Wait."
He didn't free his arm from my grasp but continued kissing my collarbone.
"Let's skip the waiting part," he murmured into my skin."

"He crooked his finger at me. "Come here."
My heart stuck in my throat.
"I won't bite Lily." He flashed his teeth. No sharp canines in sight."

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Ok before writing this review, I must admit this is one book I've had on my TBR pile for a loooong time, but I shyed away from it because the cover seemed cheesy and the blurb made the book sound extremely predictable.... But I must say, it wasy far from what I expected.

Hardcover, 357 pages
Published December 23rd 2008
Walker Books for Young Readers
YA Romance
Perfect Chemistry #1

A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more. In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

*My Thoughts*
Ok so this book was so much more than I thought it would be. The chartacters Elkeles brought to life were so real to me. I would really love if it was made into a movie. I was so surprised how much I liked this book. I expected Elkeles to go overboard with the stereotypes of them, but she really "hit the nail on the head." She portrayed Brittany as the "princess" of the school and Alex as one of the "head muchachos" in charge within his group of friends. This book was a very sweet tale of the classic "boy meets girl, boy loves girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl again." I loved how she made the novel unpredictable even if the concept had been done before. They end up realizing that although they have so many differences between them, they still have some things in common. As their world comes together they are faced with situations that challenge their love and somehow they overcome each obstacle. The very end of the book will surprise you. I won't lie, I was in tears. This book is a definite must read.
Overall I give this, ***** (5 out of 5)

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

*EXTRA*

This is also a series that I am super excited to start! I'm happy to share this cover with you, because this one is so much better than the last one...

When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.

This is the final of the triliogy and it comes out August 16, 2011. I love this cover too. I'm definitely pre-ordering this :)

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Ok before giving the review, I must admit the reason I chose to read this story was because I saw Ren on someone's "Book Boyfriend" list and I fell in love with him. So then I went to check it out on Goodreads and saw the BEAUTIFUL cover. I knew then I HAD to read this.
Hardcover, 452 pages
Published October 19th 2010
Philomel
Paranormal Romance
Nightshade #1
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers.

But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
*MY THOUGHTS*
The book opens with Calla saving a human boy on the side of the mountain. Unfortunately this is against the laws of her kind. She should know better, seeing as she is an alpha wolf and her "husband to be", Ren LaRoche, is also an alpha. She has been abiding by the rules her whole life until meeting that boy. Enter Shay Doran. He's the new kid at Calla's school and unfortunately he's the same boy she saved that day on the mountain. The whole story is full of different adventures and it was a very thrilling ride. I loved it (although the plot was very similar to Twilight.) Still, I love the book and I wouldn't mind it being made into a movie. But, as far as Calla, I didn't really like her all that much. Throughout the story she was upset with Ren and Shay about the events that unfolded because of her decisions. That got to me because SHE made those decisions, not anyone else. Her choice at the end also got to me as well. She chose who she did and in the end was left by herself hoping that he would come find a way to come back for her. I will admit, it took me a minute to decide who's "team" I was on, but when I finally did at the end, I knew I chose the right one... Even if she didn't.
As far as Cremer's writing style, she definitely had me hooked from the very first page. I was pulled into the Banes and Nightshade's world and was stuck there, right up to the cliffhanger... She brought the characters to life and I cannot wait to see where the story picks up in the next part of the series.
Overall I give it **** (4 out of 5)

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

*EXTRA*
The next book in the series will be released July 26, 2011. I'm definitely excited that I read this book when I did so I wouldn't have to wait too long for the sequel. On top of that, the cover is even more beautiful than the first one, that I absolutely love. (But I think this is because this one is my favorite color lol) Here is the cover and the book blurb:
This thrilling sequel to the much-talked-about Nightshade begins just where it ended-Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she's certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer-one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack-and the man-she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

And now with the release of the sequel, the cover for the triliogy has also been released . This one is stunnng as well. It's release is coming February 21, 2012.

Lazy Sunday #1

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, Lazy Sunday is weekly event to gather everyone together and get to know each other better that I got from a new follower named Franny who said "All the others are about books and since I don't always talk about books I came up with something different." Every week she'll ask a question about a topic of general interest to get to know you better. This week's question is:
Why did you decide to start a blog? And what do you write about?

Well mine was actually part of a school project. I am an English minor at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Tx and last semester I was taking a class named "Major Literary Genres." We were supposed to read something from different genres (sometimes she picked and sometimes she let us pick.) and write a paper about them or just a write up of our thoughts. Sounds lame for a college class, but it was actually really fun and the discussions were somehow always intense. So to serve as a write up for my thoughts, I wanted to do it on the compter... But, my teacher was an old lady and told me "If I wanted to get a grade I'd have to have something I can physically turn in because [she] did not know how to work computers." lol Yeah it was pretty bad. So after the class was over I started thinking up ways to make what I actually turned in look better. And volia! "Take me Away... On the Pages of your Story" my book blog came to me :)

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Ok so after being the only person in the world who hadn't read this series, I FINALLY started it. I'm really glad I did too because this book was quite an adventure.
Paperback, 485 pages
Published February 19th 2008
McElderry
The Mortal Instruments #1

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

*MY THOUGHTS*
At first I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but everytime I decided I didn't like it, something else weird happened and I wanted to know why. Clary's world was amazing to dive into. All the different paranormal creatures made it such an interesting read. Then I began to get impatient because of the romance I had heard about in the book took FOREVER to get there. Finally the romance came and then the explanation of the "mortal instruments" came right after that and I was dragged deeper into the book. As it went on, there was so much that blew my mind.... Like Luke and Jace and Valentine.... Gah talk about a weird triangle! Speaking of which, I am very upset about Clary and Jace's connection... Now I guess she'll have to be with her best friend, but I for one think he is a wimp lol (I know that was mean...) I'd MUCH rather have a strong Shadowhunter as a boyfriend rather than a small geeky boy in a band. I'm just saying... I found myself asking outloud if they did "Shadowhunter DNA tests "so we could find out for sure haha But as for Jace I felt so sorry for him. He wanted so bad to believe in something, to have a "real" family, but everything he had kept falling apart. I loved how the book turned out and by the end I was ready to write the review prematurely  for fear that I would leave something out. Now I have finished it and am very happy I finally picked up the book. I know I'm late on finding this treasure, but better late than never right? Now I'm ready to enjoy the rest of the series.
Overall I give it **** (4 out of 5)

Fan Art Friday #1

Hey guys just got another weekly meme that I love :) It's called "Fan Art Friday" and I got it from Sophistikatied Reviews!  I fell for it easily because I love when artists can take a scene from a book and draw out what they see in their mind's eye. I also am completely jealous that I cannot draw or put things together visually and make it come out pretty lol So now each week I will feature a piece of fan art that I find on the internet and give praise to its artist. They will most likely go hand in hand with what I am reading at the time. So, without further ado, my first piece of fan art is from Jessica Cruz of Fanpop.com. It features what could (I also vote that it SHOULD) be used as the movie poster for the first installment of the Mortal Instruments series, The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
Don't you think its BEAUTIFUL?! And the actor and actress she used definitely fit the bill. I definitely think she did a wonderful job with this poster. Cheers to you Jessica :)

All things Harry Potter :)

Ok normally I don't do just random post like this, but I've got some news that MUST be shared. The final trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2 has been released and it is nothing less than AMAZING! I must admit it made my heart beat a little faster to watch.... So with that  being said, I'm bringing it to you!!!

Omg if this doesn't give you an anxiety attack, idk what will! I'm thinking this is going to be one badass movie! July 15th, you must come faster lol

Book Boyfriend #2

 Book Boyfriend:

One of my favourite blogs The Unread reader came up with the ADORABLE idea of My book boyfriend. Basically every wednesday i tell you about which fictional boy im crushing on. If your interested in doing this on your blog go to the introduction post on The unread reader.
After reading book after book with romance being a pivotal part of them, it was hard to make a decision on who I would use for this. But I finally decided I would use the absolutely smexy cowboy. Now normally I wouldn't say those things together, but this book made it hard not to fall in love with the ciuntry accent I imagined he had. So, with out further ado, my book boyfriend for this week is none other than Tucker Avery from Unearthly by Cynthia Hand.
Facts about Tucker:

He's a twin
Loves the outdoors.
Has a really cute cowboy hat
Has THE most adorable accent
Well mannered
Has a horse named Midas
He knows how to work hard (he has about a dozen jobs lol)
blue eyes, tan, golden brown hair
Has MUSCLES

    MY Tucker Avery:
    Lucas Till

His description always makes me think of Lucas Till when he played in that Miley Cyrus movie.
Quotes to make you "hold your heart and say awwwwww":
    - "I'm glad it happened. because then I got to know who you really are." Tucker "Oh yeah? Who am I?" Clara. "A really, really spiritual, spoiled California chick." Tucker. "Shut up." Clara. "It's cool though. My girlfriend is an angel." Tucker
    - "But she gave me the perfect gift." Tucker. "What?" Clara. "You." Tucker.

Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian

Ok I know its been a minute since I did a book review, but I've been so busy! Ugh I hate being too busy to pick up a book. *sigh* But I did finish my book early this morning, and I plan on starting my next one, fairly soon. (Meaning as soon as I finish this post and my Book Boyfriend lol)
    Paperback, 381 pages
    Published January 25th 2011
     Hyperion Books for Children
All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of a victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows.

While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.

In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy’s sixteenth birthday unfolds. And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate.

I don't even know where to start with this book, besides saying that it was WONDERFUL! It was a tear-jearker, it had plenty of adventure, and it finally came through with the little spot of romance that I've been hoping for Percy to have. Riordan made this one of the best stories in the series. I was a little upset, but just because this was the last book in the series. I've heard that the next series he started mentions Percy and Annabeth and I'm kind of excited. I already know by Riordan's writing style I will be reading that series too.As far as the characters, I learned alot from the group of demi gods and their parents and adventures. There was a time when I had to read The Illiad for class and I really hated trying to remember all the gods and what they were famous for and things like that. With this though, it was easy. All the monsters and gods (both major and minor) mentioned in the huge battle I was able to remember this time around. Lastly, I LOVED the ending (no pun intended). It made me happy to see how everything worked out for the greater good.

    Book Boyfriend #1

     Book Boyfriend:

One of my favourite blogs The Unread reader came up with the ADORABLE idea of My book boyfriend. Basically every wednesday i tell you about which fictional boy im crushing on. If your interested in doing this on your blog go to the introduction post on The unread reader.

I am so excited about this! Last week I wanted to do two of these in a row just to include this one, but finally I'm able to add it :) My book boyfriend for the week is Adam Wilde from  If I Stay by Gayle Forman. It may seem strange to some, but I loved the way he treated her. I have had issues with self confidence my own self so I understood what Mia went through and I loved the way he reassured her that he loved her and only her.
    Facts About Adam
    • Cool guy that everyone knows
    • plays in a band
    • wears black low tops, pegged jeans, & punk rock t-shirts
    • "subtle" tattoos
    • played guitar for a band
    • gentleman even tho his apperance doesn't suggest it
This description makes me think of Jesse Bradford (clean shaven version lol) from Bring it On.

Quotes to make you "hold your heart and say awwwwww":
-"Please Mia," he implores. "Don't make me write a song." Adam
-"I want you to play me like a cello." Adam
-"This is the you I like. You definitely dressed sexier and are, you know, blond, and that's different. But the who you are tonight is the same you I was in love with yesterday, the same you I'll be in love with tomorrow. I love that you're fragile and tough, quiet and kick-ass. " Adam

Percy Jackson & the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

So I finished Percy Jackson & the Titan's Curse about 45 min ago... I got something to eat, wrote the review and got settled to start the next book in this amazing series. I'm ready to see where Riordan takes me to now.
    Paperback, 361 pages
    Published April 7th 2009
    Hyperion Book CH
Percy Jackson and the Olympians #4
Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun.  But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to diabolical.

In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop them, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth-a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn. Full of humor and heart-pounding action, this fourth book promises to be their most thrilling adventure yet.
Even the book blurb has left me excited. I have no choice to not start reading this tonight!
Letting the Pages of the Story "Take me Away..."

    *Review*
In short, I REALLY enjoyed this book. This book to me has had the best prophecy in the series. It featured many of Riordan's crazy twists and turns and everything in it threw me for a loop. For the book to have only two real settings, it still kept my attention and I still was able to have fun with the book. I felt as if I was in the maze with them. The two things about the book I enjoyed the most were the things or people they found out about in the maze itself and the fact that Percy's love life is finally unfolding. What I didn't like was Annabeth was acting like a real crazy person for her mother to be Athena.... I'm just saying. I just don't know whar she still sees in Luke. I really would like to know why she keeps thinking he's just going to change his mind and end up on their side. He chose his side long ago, its over and done. But with that being said, the book was still great. I can't wait to start reading the next one, although I am sad because the next one is the last one (in Percy's specific series).
    Overall I give this **** (4 out of 5)

Percy Jackson & the Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan

Ok guys, now that I'm back up at school things are going to go a bit slower. Now I won't be flying through books like I normally would be. But anyways, I was finally able to get my hands on the rest of the Percy Jackson series, so the next three reviews will most likely be about those. I was also able to get my hands on #1 and #2 of the Mortal Instruments series so the next two will prolly be about those. So, without further ado....
    Paperback, 312 pages
    Published April 8th 2008
    Hyperion
    Fantasy, Adventure
#3 in the Percy Jackson series
When the goddess Artemis goes missing, she is believed to have been kidnapped. And now it's up to Percy and his friends to find out what happened. Who is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess? They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the Olympian Council could swing an important vote on the war with the titans. Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared -- a monster rumored to be so powerful it could destroy Olympus forever.
I must admit I've been waiting a while to read this. I'm finally getting to it and I am very EXCITED :)
Letting the pages of the story "Take me Away"

    *Review* (warning contains minor spoilers)

This book was sooo good. One thing I LOVED was the addition of new characters- gods, demigods, and monsters alike. With each one, I learned something else. The one I loved the most was meeting Aphrodite. She was exactly the way I pictured her to be and her purpose of coming to spice up Percy's love life made me like her even more. I love the fact that she is giving him a challenge too lol. Because of this, one of my favorite parts of the book was when Percy, Thalia, and Annabeth go to Olympus and meet Grover there with the creature and all the gods are there for the winter solstice. Another thing I loved was Riordan's signature twists and turns of adventure. The book surprised me on almost every page. From finding out that Zoe, Bianca, and Nico were actually the son and daughters of different gods, to finding out that the girl Rachel was mortal but could still see through The Mist, I was continuously staring open mouthed at the pages. The last thing I liked, was of course, the witty language. I laughed throughout the whole story. Now for what I did not like was the way Athena treated Percy, whether it be the truth or not. And I did not like the fact that even though his love life did come up, it did not go into too much detail and did not give us too much insight. But I guess that's why there's the rest of the series lol Looks like I'll be starting the next one TONIGHT :)
    Overall, I give this **** (4 out of 5)
