Waiting on Wednesday

This meme tells about those books that we're waiting (sometimes patiently, sometimes not) to get our hands on.

This week I'm currently waiting on Insurgent by Veronica Roth!

Expected publication: May 1, 2012

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

As you can see in the left corner of the blog, I'm currently reading the first book in this series, Divergent. it truly is an awesome read. I'm closing in on the end and its getting harder for me to put it down, meaning its gonna be hard to wait till Insurgent!

What are you waiting on?

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.  This meme is simple and fun, you just pick up your current read, flip to a random page, and choose 1 or 2 teaser sentences to share!  Here are the guidelines:
  • Grab Your Current Read
  • Open to a random page
  • Pick two “teaser” sentences from that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO SHARE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn’t give too much away.  You don’t want to ruin the book for other readers)
  • INCLUDE the TITLE & AUTHOR too, so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR and wish-lists!  If possible, add the page number.
This week my teaser comes from the ever popular Divergent by Veronica Roth

I know, I know, not much of a teaser considering most of the blogosphere have read it already, but this is only my second book in the dystopian genre, so bear with me... Here's my teaser:

"Four touches my shoulder to guide me into the room and closes the door behind me. When I see what's inside, I recoil immediately, my shoulders hitting his chest." -pg. 229
What do you think of my teaser? What is your teaser?

I was tagged by: Laura @ Reading in the Mountains

Here are her questions and my answers:
1.      Do you prefer to read e-books or paper books? Why?
-          Starting off with a hard one are we? Lol well I like both, but for different reasons for each. I LOVE my Nook because its so much lighter to carry around. I also can carry it around without people knowing that I’m reading a YA book lol I also love how fast I can get the title I want. When you buy it, you’re able to get the instantaneous download. But, nothing beats the actual physical hard copy of the book being on your shelf. They look so pretty and it makes your shelf look so much fuller.

2.      Which book would you want to live in? Why?
-          This is way easier… I’m gonna try and stay away from the textbook answers like Twilight and Harry Potter and say the Percy Jackson series. If you haven’t read it yet, you should definitely start. With all the gods and goddess in it, I’m sure to always be involved in action…. Or mischief at least dealing with Percy. Plus, Camp Half Blood seems like an AWESOME place to stay in.

3.      If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only have five books, which ones would they be?
-          First would be Beauty Queens, second Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, third (now that I’ve finally read it) The Hunger Games, fourth The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, and fifth If I Stay. For a good round bunch of books, all which are 5 stars in my eyes.
4.      If you could meet 1 author, who would it be?
-          Easy peasy… J.K. Rowling. I would love to sit and talk about where all her ideas for Harry came from. Just to see her wonderful imagination at work.

5.      Which published book do you wish you had written?
-          At this very moment, The Hunger Games. With the movie coming out and everything, the press is all over it. And this book even got my boyfriend (who dare I say it, HATES reading) reading along with me at night.

6.      If you could date any book character, who would it be and why?
-That would have to be Will from Firelight! He’s just amazing and sweet and… well just look at my Book Boyfriend post here to see how I view him and you’ll understand lol

7.      If you could be best friends with any book character, who would it be and why?
-I would have to say Katniss. She is so kick a*s and I know I can always count on her survival skills.

8.      If you could give any book character advice, who would it be and what would you tell him/her?
-          Well, many of you will laugh at this, but I’m so dead serious lol I would tell Tessa from the Infernal Devices series “Choose Team Will!” and I would Katniss “Choose Team Peeta!” and I would tell Bella “Go back in time and choose Team Jacob!!!!” lmao

9.      Do you have reading/reviewing goals for this year?
-Yes. Now that I am working evening and am free during the day, I can do the ABC challenge and the read my 75 books for this year. I am also going to start doing giveaways and the Random Acts of Kindness thing now that I am working.

10. What is your favorite genre to read?
- Until recently, it was Paranormal Romance, but then I was sucked out of my comfort zone by my Bff and told to read The Hunger Games and now all I want to read is some more adventure, post apocalyptic, dystopian type stuff.

 11.  What new books are you looking forward to?

             - The new adult book by J.K. Rowling. I’m a little upset that it isn’t another MG or YA book, but              hey, I still love her writing and I am definitely going to give it a chance.

Now the people I choose are:
Xpresso Reads
Anna Reads
Between the Pages
Book Angel
Bookish Sarah
Rescue Reads
Brooke Reports
Dazzling Reads
District YA
Ivy Reads
Stuck in YA Books

The questions I have are:
1. Do you have another social media to go along with your blog? (Like twitter, Tumblr, Facebook)
2. What do your non-bookish friends think of your love of books?
3. If you could make any book into a movie, that hasn't already been done, which book would it be?
4. If you were able to pull someone out of a book for one day, who would it be and what would you guys do?
5. What is your favorite genre? Why?
6. How long have you been an avid reader and what made you start reading?
7. Where do you purchase most of your books? Indie or big stores? Or do you go to the library for most of them?
8. What made you decide to start blogging?
9. Have you ever been so consumed by a book that you dream about what you've read?
10. What do you when you're not reading?
11. What books would you recommend to none readers to get them started?

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Revisited)

E-Book, 267 pages
Published October 1, 2008
Scholastic Inc.
The Hunger Games #1
Source: Nook Lended from a a friend
For fans of: Post apocalyptic, Fantasy, Romance

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shinging Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the Districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister Primrose, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before -- and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

PSA: The reason this says Revisited, is because I tried reading this once before, but I just couldn't get into it. I think it was because I was going into it thinking I wouldn't like it, becasue normally the post apocolyptic genre just isn't for me. I felt like it wasn't really believable, but then I sat back and thought.... How much of what I read actually really IS real or believable? Nothing really lol So I finally caved when a friend told me to give it another try.
So, here we go... In the beginning we meet Katniss, her family, and her best friend Gale. During this time there is a lot of info to process. It was one of those stories where it certain parts had to be read twice to be sure you didn't miss anything. But the unique premise, the convincing of other bloggers, and the final push from my friend Shenell saying "Just make it to the Games," I decided what the heck. I let go of everything and actually tried to enjoy the story. When they got to the part about naming the tributes, I was finally intrigued enough to keep going. Soon afterward I found myself not wanting to put it down. The very first night of reading it, I found myself dreaming that I was District 12's tribute. One thing I could tell early on, was that Suzanne Collins could really write and that her imagination was HUGE, seeing as how she created this world of Panem and the Capitol and the Games and makes the story seem one of a kind. As I read, I see the story unfolding more and more. I could tell from the beginning, Katniss was no ordinary heroine. She was clearly, a heroine of all heroines... And I realized this just in Part I!
Finally I got to "The Games" as promised to my friend. By then I was hooked. I loved everything about all the different Districts and the Capitol. It was all so different, I just enjoyed being in that world. But then the Games began and it got real.... Or so I thought. I'm not sure if its just me, but Katniss didn't seem to be doing anything for the first part. I understand why she wasn't it, but at the same time, I thought it would focus on the others doing it to each other too. Especially since it was so hyped up by EVERYONE. I mean, I expected her to have her bow and arrow blazing in glory..... Anyways, things finally picked up again at the tracker-jacker scene and I admit, I panicked a little lol Then I started furiously reading trying to make sure she didn't get hurt or anything. Then as the Games ended, I was getting surprise, after Surprise, after SURPRISE
Then as the story was ending, it seemed to play more on the romance and the unfinished items of the story. I knew I was hooked if I even couldn't put the book down after the climatic part. It was really an amazing story. Katniss took me on an incredible journey. I loved learning everything about her, because her history made her who she was currently and I wanted to know everything.
I wouldn't say I'm obsessed now, but I WILL say I'll be at the midnight showing of the movie lol
Overall, I give this ***** (5 out of 5)

Bookish News!!!!

I have some AMAZING news!!! I'm sure you guys have already heard about it, but just in case you didn't.....

J.K. Rowling is coming out with another book!

It took me so long to write up a post about it because I was frantically searching the internet for more details, but I didn't find any :( The only thing that has been released about it was the fact that its an adult book and its going to be very different from Harry Potter. I kind of got depressed because of the lack of details and the difference from Harry Potter, but I am still a fan or her writing and I can't wait to see what she is giving her fans. I'll continue to keep you guys updated as I find out more things!

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most…

My favorite place to read would have to be anywhere with a really good light source right next to it. I should've listened when my momma said reading in the dark is bad for your eyes lol it really was for me smh

I'm always next to the big lamp in the corner of the couch with my book and a blanket. (Excuse the mess of wires lol That's my boyfriend with the Playstation and everything else smh)

Q: Which book from your school days
do you remember reading & enjoying? Is there a book published now
that you'd like to see in today's curriculum for kids?

I'll go with the required reading. There were three books and one play that I really enjoyed when I was in school. It was Maya Angelou's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" Harper Lee's "To Catch a Mockingbird" and Shakespeare's "Macbeth."

Teaser Tuesday

Hey guys I'm soooo sorry I was gone, but I had a lot on my plate. Between moving, job hunting, and looking after my 9 month old niece everyday before work, blogging became really hard. There were some books that I was able to read, but to sit down and blog about them was really hard. Now I'm on more of a schedule and can read it and can now do both. Bear with me as I take time to get my blog back in order. Today I'm gonna start with something easy and do a Teaser Tuesday. Thanks for still being amazing followers! I promise I'll get back to being an amazing blogger!!!

This week my tease comes from "Immortal Beloved" by Cate Tiernan. Now I haven't even started this, so I won't know what my tease is about either, but I feel like that makes it all the more better. Hope you guys enjoy!!!!

"I haven't worked like this in.... a couple of centuries." I gave a little laugh, but inside I felt amazingly lame and stupid."
