15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 2!

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge | Good Books And Good Wine

Since this is such a cool idea (big props to her, she made the entire thing up!) I know you would like to participate too! There will be a sign up on each day of the challenge. (Sign up here for the second challenge!)

My bedtime reading ritual mainly depends on if my boyfriend falls asleep before me or not lol

  •  He hates the huge bright reading lamp I have next to the bed so I have to cut it off. I normally just take out my Nook and read from it because of the backlight. But if I'm reading a physical book, I have a book light my mother gave me.
  •  I will NOT lay down. I have to sit up because its too easy to fall asleep when I lay down. I have one of those pillows with the little arms on them that I use to sit up and read. It's amazing for my back.
  • Then there's the boyfriend's snoring. If it gets too loud, I take out my headphones and read while listening to classical music. But if I can manage to get through it, I just read until I can hardly keep my eyes open.
  • If I finished a book earlier that day, I cannot go to sleep without reading at least the first chapter in my next read. (Hopefully if I'm lucky and its not too late, I will read up to maybe chapter 3.)
  • If I'm reading from my Nook I will plug it up first just in case I fall asleep so it can still charge. If I'm reading from a physical book, I will put the bookmark in place whenever I turn the page just in case.
  • My boyfriend gets annoyed with me sometimes because I'll have whatever book I'm reading plus the notebook I use to write my notes in, underneath our pillows. (Hey easy access, don't judge me!)
There's my bedtime reading rituals. I never realized how much the boyfriend played a part in it lol Sometimes I'm amazed he still puts up with me!

What bedtime reading rituals do you have?!

  1. When my husband is home, I cannot read with him in bed. He likes to have the television super loud, so I have to go into the other room. I can't fall asleep with any noise or lights so I have to wait until he is completely asleep before I can shut everything down and go to bed.

  2. I fall asleep with my Nook almost every night. My husband is beyond complaining about it at this point, he just puts it on my nightstand and plugs it in to charge if I haven't already.

  3. Sounds like a great ritual! And I am the same when it comes to keeping notes. Luckily, we have a platform bed with a wide ledge, so that usually holds my notesbooks, post-its, etc.

    Great post!

  4. I have to sit up while reading at night too! It's so easy to fall asleep while reading, especially at night!

  5. Great rituals! I commend you for putting up with your bf's snoring...I can barely stay in the same room once mine starts. I might have to try the earphones deal. :)

  6. I need one of those pillows! I have back problems so I need to lay down to read but I bet I could sit up with a pillow like that :)

I'm the same about having to start a new one at night even if I'd finished a book that day!

  7. Haha this is almost the opposite to me - my boyfriend's the night owl and I'm definitely not! He's sometimes wide awake when I'm ready for bed, so when I'm finished reading he'll generally read on his iPad for a bit until he's actually ready to sleep!

At the weekend it's fine, he'll happily sit and read with me, or play games etc while I read, until as late as I like. It's just that during the week I have to be up earlier than he does and I get so tired in the evenings!

I love the idea of putting your Nook on to charge in case you fall asleep - I need to start doing that with my kindle because I'm pretty rubbish at remembering to charge it.
