"He tastes like sugar, he tastes like Caleb, and I want more, I want him. I wrap my arms around him and my arms around him and that's where thought stops. I am all sensation; his breath, the taste of his mouth, his tongue against mine, his lips on my throat, his hair twining around my fingers, his hands on my waist, my hips, and he pulls back, breathing hard and looks at me like I am-
He looks at me like I am beautiful."

Life. Death. And...Love?

Emma would give anything to talk to her mother one last time. Tell her about her slipping grades, her anger with her stepfather, and the boy with the bad reputation who might be the only one Emma can be herself with.
But Emma can't tell her mother anything. Because her mother is brain-dead and being kept alive by machines for the baby growing inside her.

Meeting bad-boy Caleb Harrison wouldn't have interested Old Emma. But New Emma-the one who exists in a fog of grief, who no longer cares about school, whose only social outlet is her best friend Olivia-New Emma is startled by the connection she and Caleb forge.

Feeling her own heart beat again wakes Emma from the grief that has grayed her existence. Is there hope for life after death-and maybe, for love?

*MY THOUGHTS*

When I say it took all of me to finish this book... It took a hell of an effort for me to finish it and the only reason I did was because I kept hoping against hope that she would grow up and change. Because most of what was going on was hurting me so much to read.
" Under the idea that we have choices, is the reminder that sometimes we don't. That sometimes life is bigger than our plans. Bigger than us."
48% (e-ARC)
Let's start off with what I DID like about this story. The writing style was amazing. All the emotions that Emma, Dan, Caleb, and Olivia went through are clearly shown throughout the novel. In some places their grief almost broke me down. In all honesty, if you can look past some things, it really is a gut wrenching story. And with it actually happening in the same state where I am, it makes it all too real.
" I thought getting a guy to like you was the hard part," she mutters. "But its just as hard after that. How come no one ever tells you that?"
61% (e-ARC)
But the reality stops there. The reason I wanted to stop reading this was the MC, I HATED her. She was the most selfish, undeserving brat on the planet. She put Dan in such a bad position it was unreal. And then, it didn't matter what he said or did, she still hated him for it. She just didn't understand that Dan had lost someone too and she made EVERYTHING about her. Even when it shouldn't have been about her at all. I mean let's be honest.... You were upset because Dan didn't want to be all huggy huggy with you. Yes your mother just died, but his wife just died as well. He was in love with her. And he didn't ask you about keeping her alive to save the baby because (and correct me if I'm wrong) he's your brother and you should have been jumping up and down saying "YES SAVE HIM PLEASE!"
"You can't read school stuff all the time.."
62% (e-ARC)
And as for the romance, I felt it was a good one because they both found someone that was able to understand what they were going through, even if it was in completely different ways. But I didn't feel like it was believable. This completely broken person finds another completely broken person and turns them around from 70%-100% and that person completes a whole 180? Yeah I'm not sure about that. I just felt like it was a little insta-lovey for them not to know anything about each other, but you know he lost someone so you just up and start talking to him? I don't like it.
" I love you is just words but it is more than that when you mean them. When you feel them.."
97% (e-ARC)
This book wasn't normally one I would pick up. I had something completely different in mind for this story and it changed me. But please be prepared, if you don't have that much patience, this is not the story for you. The MC will ruin any chance you have of enjoying it.
Overall, I give this

Top Ten Characters I'd NEVER Want To Trade Places With

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week we will post a new Top Ten list. Everyone is welcome to join.

This week's topic is:
Top Ten Characters I'd NEVER Want to Trade Places With!
*These are in no particular order!

1. Heather from Panic by Lauren Oliver: This one is unreleassed, but I just recently read it.... Dude, there is no way I would be doing the stuff that she had to do in this book. HELL NAW.
2. Alex from the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: She went through a bunch of crap and the daimons and fighting gods.... Yeah, I couldn't do what she did. Just pluck Aiden out of there and hand him to me and we'll be A-Ok!
PanicHalf-Blood (Covenant, #1)

3. Eleanor from Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell: Dude, if you read this, you know all that Eleanor goes through. Kids can be so mean. And she doesn't get a safe place to go home to in the end because her step father. I would've killed someone in her shoes. I wouldn't have lasted in her world.
4. Juliet from The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd: After I read this, I had nightmares of men with horses' heads for DAYS. Staying on that island would've freaked me out. There's no way I would've survived.
Eleanor & ParkThe Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1)

5. Lucy from My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi: One night of bad judgement and she has to live with it the rest of her life. It's really unfortunate. I hated that she had to go through that but I was happy that she did some of the things she did in the end. I don't know if I would've been able to be that positive in the end.
6. Scarlet from Cress by Marissa Meyer: This one hasn't been released either, but when you finally get your hands on it, you will understand what I mean. Something really big happens to Scarlet in this book and I'm not sure if I would've been able to handle it. I would've thrown myself off the spaceship.
My Life After NowCress (Lunar Chronicles, #3)

7. Hazel Grace from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: Dude, there is no way I would've made it after the big event at the end. I'm crying now just thinking about it. I wouldn't know how to handle that kind of loss.
8. Eleanor from Something Strange and Deadly: Ummmm.... Zombies?! Hell naw. There is no way I could survive that and I don't plan on trying to lol If there's ever a zombie apocalypse, I'm offing myself lol
The Fault in Our StarsSomething Strange and Deadly (Something Strange and Deadly, #1)

9. Katniss from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: Keep in mind I have not read Mockingjay.... So I only know what happens in the first and second book.... And I would HATE to have to go trhough the Hunger Games two times in a row. There is no way in hell I would've survived. Hell Idk if I would've made it through the first time lol
10. Em from All our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill: She keeps going back in time to get killed or to fight the same people. I can't see myself doing that. I would've quit after the first time.
The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)All Our Yesterdays (All Our Yesterdays #1)

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

e-ARC, 352 pages
Release Date: January 28, 2014
Published by: Balzer + Bray
Cruel Beauty Universe, #1
Source: Edelweiss
For fans of: Fantasy, YA, Romance, Retellings

Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl's journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.
Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.
Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.
With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.
But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.
As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

*MY THOUGHTS*

One thing I've noticed about this book..... You either loved it or you hated it. There was really not a gray area. I'm guessing its because the beginning isn't that great. And that's exactly what happened to me. I fell victim to the bad beginning.
I'm a little upset because I really wanted to love this one. Especially since it's a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Which I have decided to stop reading. They never seem to work out for me. It's like expect way too much out if them and they never come out right.
This is another one where I've seen some bloggers say it gets better as the book goes on, but I just couldn't get into it. I made it to about 30% and I just felt like with all the information they had already given me had told me the entire story and I didn't need to read the rest. *shrugs*It was a little unfortunate because I didn't even want to skim it like I normally do my DNF's, but I mean, it was a retelling. I had always known what would happen.
I hate being the black sheep. I hate not loving a book that everyone else does, but this one just didn't do it for me. I wasn't impressed and I don't care to see what else happens.
Overall, I give this

Dude, this cover is amazeballs. And the synopsis is even better. I cannot wait until this one comes out! Too bad I have to wait until October 14th to read it :\

Dark Days
Dark Days by Kate Ormand

The fact that this mentions cyborgs sealed the deal for me. Last time I ignored a book about cyborgs, I was extremely upset with myself because that series turned out to be one of my favorites! I have a few months to wait tho, this one won't be released until June 3rd

Half Bad (Half Life, #1)
Half Bad by Sally Green

The last time I read a book about witches.... Was.... Well idk. Which is why I want to read this one so bad! I'm ready to see how this supernatural being is portrayed! I don't have to wait too long though. This one releases March 4th

Servants of the Storm
Servants of the Storm by Delilah S. Dawson

The cover on this one creeps me out! But its so cool looking! And the freaking synopsis makes it sound super good! And then there's the fact that it's set in the south! A place where I've visited before. I'm over the moon about this one and I hope its as good as it seems! I'll be waiting forever for this one to release though. It doesn't come out until August 5th!

Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1)
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

It's no secret that I LOVE retellings. This is number three on my top most anticpated of 2014! I can't even mkae myself read the prequel to this because I'm too afraid that I'll want this one right after it. Keep your fingers crossed that I can make it... Because right now it's not looking too good. April 1st can't come fast enough!

Runner up!

Nocover-blank-133x176
Hook's Revenge by Heidi Schultz

I am so unbelievably excited about this you don't understand. And it makes it even better that its an MG novel so its sure to be super cool with a bunch of laughs along the way! I can't wait to have this one in my hands on September 16th

"     I want to leap into his arms for a hug or, even better, kiss his soft lips. The ache to make up for lost time winds tight around me until I'm a top ready to spin, but my shyness is even stronger. [...]
Jeb follows my line of sight and lifts my hand to kiss each knuckle, the scrape of his labret igniting a tingle that races all the way to the tips of my toes. 'Let's get out of here.'"
pg. 8

#TeamJeb all the way! I'm so glad they started it off with some swoony parts! He's who I've missed the most!
