Scarlett doesn’t remember anything before the age of five. Her parents say it’s from the trauma of seeing her house burn down, and she accepts the life they’ve created for her without question—until a car accident causes Scarlett to start remembering pieces of an unfamiliar past.
When a new guy moves into town, Scarlett feels an instant spark. But Noah knows the truth of Scarlett’s past, and he’s determined to shield her from it...because Scarlett grew up in a cult called Eternal Light, controlled by her biological parents.
     And they want her back.

*MY THOUGHTS*

I requested this at a time when I was having so much luck with thrillers that they were all turning into five star reads. So of course when I saw this one, I clicked "Request" before I even finished reading the description. But the writing style, the characters were too much for me to handle.
Scarlett's memory is all over the place. She doesn't remember anything before a certain age, so she believes everything her parents have told her. But then an accident occurs and the pieces began to fall together. Then someone she vaguely remembers turns up and she is drawn to him. He knows where she's from. And all that is different from what she thinks she knows is her life.
I am a reader that thrives off amazing characters and this one just didn't have that. The love interest was just completely weird (Everyone I've seen has called it a creeper and it's extremely accurate) and the MC is simply ridiculous. I say ridiculous because of her insta-love. She literally saw this person and then fell for them. It just wasn't believable. I know it should have went along with the cult/mind control thing, but still. It was too fast. I DNF'd at about 35% and I was already talking about insta-love.
The only thing I wish I did was looked at the end. I would have loved to see if Noah actually succeeded in getting her back or what happened to Eternal Light. But everything was just too weird for me to even care about getting to the end.
In short, this book just didn't do it for me. I wasn't a fan of the characters but I would have loved to see the end. Don't let my review keep you from reading it if you feel like you may like it! Just because I wasn't a fan, that doesn't mean you wont be either!
