Stacking the Shelves #128 and the Weekly Wrap-Up!

This bookish meme tells the blogosphere what all we borrowed, bought, and received for review. It's hosted over at Tynga's Reviews.

Slow week this week because there was only one book I was really focused on this week!

Bought:
Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road, #1)

Nowhere But Here by Katie MCGarry

Funny story about this book.... I actually received this book THREE times lol I was on the ARC tour for ATWAT for this book and it arrived the day before the book was published. The next day my pre-order arrived. Then two days later, ANOTHER copy of the book arrived. Apparently I had pre-ordered the book twice lmao Guess I was really excited for this book!

What did you get this week?!

Armchair BEA: A GIVEAWAY and Books to Movies Adaptations!

Books to Movies Adaptations

I'm a HUGE fan of movies or tv shows that are based on the books I've read. Same goes for books that are like the tv shows I love. But even though I love them, there are some movies out there that just didn't work for me.Which depresses me because they were mainly movies I was really hoping to love. So, here's a list of both the best and the worst book to movie adaptations to me.

WORST

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)Image result for percy jackson movie

This one was NOTHING like the book. It left out so many things that I was so looking forward to seeing happen. It did nothing but piss me off smh

BeastlyImage result for beastly movie

I really liked the book. Which really suprised me. I was thinking the movie would be just as good, and was disappointed. I tried watching it two times and fell asleep both times. I never did see tthe ending of that movie smh

BEST

Really any of the HP movies could've made this list in my honest opinion... Except HP and the Order of the Phoenix. But I didn't even like the book so that didn't really count anyways lol

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)Image result for if i stay movie

Every last thing I waned to see from this book was in the movie. So much so I found myself crying at mainly the same times as the book. Both of them were wonderful!

Armchair BEA: Character Chatter and Blogging Q&A

Character Chatter

It's time to give your favorite characters some love! Characters are essential to a story, and they can make or break a book for some readers. Now's your chance to shine the spotlight on your favorite characters, or maybe your least favorite. Who's your favorite couple? What are the components of a well written character? What are you favorite or least favorite cliches associated with characters?

As a reader, I always put myself into the life of the main character. The worst things always happen to them, such as the villain always coming after them, to the most embarrassing things happening to them. Over the years I found that I also love a good supporting character.
Supporting characters are the ones that go right along with the main characters and get in almost as much trouble, but are still not the main focus. To me, the supporting characters hold a lot of weight, because in a novel having too many main characters (different POV's) is sometimes confusing. But if there is a great best friend or another person in the story that the MC counts on, it can take a little attention off the MC. Just ensure that they are well developed, and essential to the story.
Some of my favorite supporting characters from YA are:
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)
1. Iko from Cinder by Marissa Meyer: First of all, she's hilarious. She knows everything about Cinder and is not afraid to tell Cinder what she thinks. Secondly, she's a robot. I love that about her. She's different but she doesn't mind it.

2. Neville Longbottom: Through out the series we thought he was just around and funny when he was around. He ended up being essential to the story. I didn't even realize the connection between the two until they mentioned it in the book.

I love supporting characters just as much as the main characters, so keep them coming!

Who are some of your favorite supporting characters?

Blogging Q&A

Blogging 101. All kinds of tips and tricks to get you started or keep you going. Talk about ARCs, reviewing in general, web design, etc.  What blogging platform do you use? How do you network? What are some of your favorite web designs?  Or maybe you want to talk about your own blogging journey, and how you got to where you are now. Either way, we want you to share your knowledge with the rest of the community!

As a blogger, the thing that pushes my buttons the most is when people tell otehr people how to run their blog. I run my blog for ME. I like to read, I like to blog, and so I put the two together so I can like what they make too. If I were to start running my blog the way some people think I should, I probably wouln't blog anymore.
The best blogging advice I can give you is to just HAVE FUN. Whether it's blogging about books you like, books you don't like, book covers, whatever the case may be. For instance, I just started reading fantasy, so in the past I didn't review too many of the most popular fantasy books. The ones that were popping up on everyone's blog. I didn't review it, even after everyone was talking about it and even told me I should review itt just to "keep up." That's not my genre and I don't want to say I don't like it jst because it's not what I usually like. I will maybe try a differfent fantasy book later, but I'll do it when I'm ready.
YOUR BLOG IS YOUR BLOG. Unless you decide that you are doing this for a class or professionally, it shouldn't feel like work. Make your blog a reflection of you. Don't let it become like work, because it will then not be fun anymore. There is no way to do blogging "right."

Do you have fun when writing your blog's content?

Armchair BEA: Visual Expressions and Social Media!

Visual Expressions

There are so many ways to tell stories. Whether it's comic books, graphic novels, visual novels, webcomics, etc, there are quite a lot of other mediums to tell a story. On this day, we will be talking about those books and formats that move beyond just words and use other ways to experience a story.

I'm gonna go with comic books and movies because if you didn't know, I actually collect Wonder Woman comic books. As a true comic book lover, I love all types of comics, from the very beginning with superheroes to just the super funny ones like Archie! I LOVE them all and I love reading them.

The rest of the world is just as fond of them as I am, and just like with regular books, movies about the superheroes are all over the place. Which makes me ridiculously happy, but also a little upset. Even with all the love, people are still drawing away from the women superheroes. We still get the SAME freakin Spiderman, Superman, and Batman movies EVERY FREAKIN YEAR. And now come to find out we're also now getting another Fantastic 4 movie just to use completely different people. Like REALLY? They'd rather let the same concept get used over and over instead of giving one of the bigger heroes her own movie?

Obviously I'm talking about Wonder Woman. Her comics are amazeballs and her tv show from back in the day was just as good. Lynda Carter is a goddess and I'm sure if the problem is "no one would be as good as her," she could teach them.. I'm not sure what the actual reason is for not even trying to make her a movie, but I think it's stupid that "Ant Man" will be getting one before she will. I mean really..... His enemy is a freakin BEE. I can't even.

I'm not sure what the reason is for them to be so scared to have a female superhero character, but they need to get over it. The material, the actress/actors, the viewers are out there. Hollywood, you just have to make it happen. And make it good. Because Wonder Woman is bad ass. EVERYONE will love a well planned, well thought out movie about her.

Would you watch a Wonder Woman movie?
What other FEMALE comic book character would you like to see on the big screen?

Social Media

How do you use social media to expand your blogging/writing horizons?  Social Media is all about networking and connections, and utilizing today's technology to the fullest.  Make sure you mention your own social media pages. Do you have another blog, maybe a Tumblr? Have a Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook? Or maybe there's an underrated social media program that you like.

I use a lot of platforms of social media for my blog. It helps to make others aware of my presence online. I use Twitter to tweet out links so anyone that follows me can look at the post and I also use it to tweet the links to authors so that they can see the post of what I have done for their books.
As far as what social medias I have for the blog, I have an Instagram, a Goodreads, a Snapchat, a Twitter, a Tumblr, and a Pinterest. The Instagram and Twitter are the ones I use the most. I still use my Snapchat, Pintrest, and Tumblr, but not as much. I just want to make sure my blog is seen across all platforms. I have a pretty big audience already, but I still want to continue to make it grow. I mean I started this blog to tell people what I thought about books, so I want to let EVERY ONE know my opinions!

What social Media do you use?
Which ones are your favorites?
Which ones don't you use as much?
