Is it love, or is she just his good luck charm?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting absolutely delights with this witty and fun standalone contemporary romance.
Lilah isn't sure what hurt worse: the day Ethan left her to focus on his hockey career, or the day he came back eight years later. He might think they can pick up just where they left off, but she's no longer that same girl and never wants to be again.
Ethan Kane wants his glory days back. And that includes having Lilah by his side. With her, he was magic. They were magic. All he has to do is make her see that.
Just when Lilah might finally be ready to let him in, though, she finds out their reunion has nothing to do with her and everything to do with his game. But Ethan's already lost her once, and even if it costs him his career, he'll do anything to keep from losing her again.

BETWEEN THE COVERS!
*This book is part of the new adult contemporary romance genre! It is more mature than YA. I have featured it in Between the Covers as a way to feature the few Adult and New Adult titles I am beginning to read!"

*MY THOUGHTS*

I wasn't going to review this since it came out last year, (and because I'm not reviewing a romance book on Halloween lmao) but I decided to do it anyways. It's still popular enough (I just got my hold in from work) that it could help having a review.
Years ago Lilah's first love broke her heart. Ethan left her (over the phone no less) for a hockey career and didn't look back. Or so she thought. Eight years later Ethan comes back home after being traded to his home hockey team. He quickly realizes what he had for Lilah never went away, but also that she is not who she used to be and doesn't want to be. Just as Lilah is finally coming into her own true self, Ethan comes back and his being here threatens to unravel everything she's done to change. But she still loves Ethan. Can she be herself and protect herself all at the same time? Is he doing this because she's good luck or because he really misses her?
Because I've been in a sports romance mood lately, I saw this was available and I KNEW I needed to get my hands on it. I immediately checked it out and started listening to it the same day. I loved when I met Lilah, but as Ethan was introduced, I found that I was not impressed. First off, the phone thing. What kind of a person does that? Have some respect for her smh And as the book went on he just never understood that some things she needed to do for herself and she shouldn't give up those things because he may not always be there.... As his previous example showed. If he had any respect for her, he wouldn't have needed to explain that. The one thing that saved him was the fact that he let her go when she asked.
As for the romance, like I said I wasn't a real fan of Ethan, but I thought their love was really sweet. I loved that they had all these inside jokes and memories from back in the day. This is the reason I love second chance romance. I love thinking that the memories and the romance can survive all of the things we put it through. And, let's be honest, the smexy times were in fact smexy. Like the car scene?! Holy hotness Batman! I listened to that part at work (of course smh lol) and I remember my cheeks turning a bit pink and having to lower the volume even though I had on ear buds lol
This wasn't my favorite sports romance or second chance romance, but it worked for what I was looking for. I still enjoyed this enough to want to see what else Hunting has written and if the romances are just as good as the others.
Overall, I give this
