Now that Nina has turned the Watcher’s Castle into a utopia for hurt and lonely demons, she’s still waiting for the utopia part to kick in. With her sister Artemis gone and only a few people remaining at the castle—including her still-distant mother—Nina has her hands full. Plus, though she gained back her Slayer powers from Leo, they’re not feeling quite right after being held by the seriously evil succubus Eve, a.k.a. fake Watcher’s Council member and Leo’s mom.
And while Nina is dealing with the darkness inside, there’s also a new threat on the outside, portended by an odd triangle symbol that seems to be popping up everywhere, in connection with Sean’s demon drug ring as well as someone a bit closer to home. Because one near-apocalypse just isn’t enough, right?
The darkness always finds you. And once again, it’s coming for the Slayer.
*MY THOUGHTS*
I don't read a lot of paranormal books anymore, so it was a treat to finally get another one in my hands. It was also a treat to read. So many questions were answered and so many ties were sewed up. I still loved the other one more, but this was still a good read.
"...lately, I also want to hurt and kill and maim things. But that's okay too, right? I mean, if you're good at something, it's important to develop your talents."20%
Nina has changed the castle into something that none of them recognize. Demons run freely and now Nina is in charge. But there are still some problems... Artemis is still gone, her powers still don't feel right after getting them back from Leo, and she's been trying to figure out this weird symbol that keeps coming from out of nowhere. Just when she thinks she's finished something, she realizes there's a hole other apocalypse coming. Can they stop it in time?

The other book was action on every page. This one, not so much. And it was pretty repetitive. It felt like it was the same thing over and over. Towards the middle I was able to predict what was about to happen because it just kept happening. It made the story drag and I wasn't feeling that. I kept putting the book down to read or do other things because I was bored.
"He shrugs, "We all have monsters inside. Mine's just more literal. You understand."52%
But while reading this, it made me wonder if I felt this way because I didn't remember much about the first book. But, Chosen was actually really good about telling us what happened in Slayer. And not all at once.

As for as the characters, I still liked all of them. I was also pleasantly surprised when a charcter surprised me in the middle of the book. I remember saying out loud, "SAY WHAT NOW?!" I was super confused, but it made sense at the time. With everyone else, it was great to see everyone back in the same place. But one of the main characters that I didn't care for in the first one made it to this book as well. Fun fact, I didn't like them in this one either.

This wasn't something I was terribly into, but because I loved the tv show, it was definitely something I needed to read. Not as good as the show, but still enough of a connection that I knew I couldn't miss it.
