Top 10 Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don't Get!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the BookishEach week we will post a new Top Ten list. Everyone is welcome to join.

This week's topic is:
Top 10 Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don't Get!

1. Severus Snape from the Harry Potter series: Yes his "Always" was very touching and all, but that doesn't erase all that he did to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. And let's not forget how he was definitely once in the league with You Know Who.......

2. Clary from the Mortal Instruments series: I've only read the first three, but she is nothing like Tessa was in The Infernal Devices. Clary is whiny and she makes irrational decisions all the time that can cause people to get hurt.

3. Edward from the Twilight series: He was a smooth talker and all, but in reality.... He sparkled and he watched her sleeping. Plus he was dead. I just CAN'T. lol

4. Manon Blackbeak from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas: Ok let me explain. I like her now that I've read QoS. But in HoF I didn't really feel like she had a purpose? I felt like maybe she could've been written in later? She's creepy and all and now she's a BAMF, but at first I was just like "Okkkkkkkk.........."

5. Princess Lia from The Kiss of Deception: Honestly I think this one is because of all the hype that surrounded this series. And then I listened to the audiobook and I just didn't click with her.

6. Gale from The Hunger Games: I really just never saw his point. Romantically he was there JUST to be part of a love triangle and as a friend he wasn't always there when Katniss was at the games. He could've just as easily been Finnick that she ended up getting really close with or something.

7. America Singer from the Selection series: Because honestly, she doesn't think anything through. She runs off emotion and she just jumped head first into everything and it got annoying.

8. Everyone (except Blue) from the Raven Boys series: *hides* When I read the first book in this series I liked it. But everyone in it was a little pretentious. But then I started the second book and it just seemed to bore me to tears. The only person I didn't have a problem with was Blue and that was because her family and her were both so eccentric.

9. Everyone in the Shatter Me series: *hides* I tried really hard to love this book. I tried reading it FOUR times and in different formats. (HC and audio) But I just couldn't get to it. I DNF'd that book all 4 times.

10. Simon from the Mortal Instruments series: Remember, as stated in #2 I've only read the first three books. HOLY CRAPOLA I've never seen someone so jealous lol And to think you never even saif anything to that person. I felt sorry for you because you were friend-zoned all that time, but sometimes you just need to give it up. In the first book he spent the majority of his time being upset that Clary had her own life.

  1. MANON! THANK YOU! I am SO happy to have found people that don't like her as much as I do! I'm ALWAYS waiting for her POV to get over, and they're also kind of boring!

    Have a lovely week.

  2. I haven't read some of these books, but I agree with a lot of these, especially Snape! I think that people are so caught of with his "always," that they forget all the terrible things he did in the past and as a teacher, and how he was more of a terrible person who did a few good things, rather than a good person who did a few terrible things.

And Edward. Oh Edward. But I know so many people who hate him :P

  3. Twilight, ironically escaped my notice! I could have listed everyone from that series! LOL! Snape...yeah, I can't say I liked him during the series, and really it's not until we see all those memories that it all makes sense. It's perhaps enough to understand in some small sense the reason for all he did, but I can't say I truly loved his character, but I guess I understood him better!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower :)

  4. okay so I agree on a few of these. Clary for sure one of them and Gale. Although I dont raelly dislike them I just didn't get why everyone else so adored them. I agree about Severus. He did good in the end and it was touching but really he was just selfish and doing things because he loved Harry's mom and hated his dad.

I do however love Simon. I do think he was the best character in the series and he cracked me up. I think that is why I just adored him. The geeky in him was true to form for my own family.

I also will admit I loved Edward when I read twilight. Now since then I see there are lots of guys to adore in books but he was my first book crush. So there is that.

America Singer was truly annoying. I did love the prince though.

Princess lia I don't think I loved or hated. She was good for the book and for growth but I don't remember loving her.

All the rest I don't really know.

  5. How could I forget Edward from my list?!!! I found the whole watching her sleep creepy too! In fact I found Bella annoying as well!
Severus Snape was a tortured soul, you can't help but feel for him at least a little bit!
I didn;t hate Clary but I found it slightly annoying that she was basically a brand new Shadowhunter and refused to listen to anyone more experienced that her and thought that her way was always the best way.
And Gale, I liked him, but hated the whole love triangle thing, he needed to give up on that. If it hadn't happened already then it wasn't going to happen! He needed to stop with his pining and go find himself a nice (none damaged) girl :)

  6. Great list. I agree with a lot of these. I had a hard time with all of the characters in Twilight and The Mortal Instruments. I didn’t really like any of them.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  7. Oh man! I'm glad you like Manon now because she's amazing. Her stuff in Heir of Fire were my favorite chapters. But I get the lack of connection to the larger story. And Snape I get, he's controversial. But THE RAVEN BOYS!?!?!

  8. #5 I thought the same thing! I was expecting something epic because of all of the hype and I also could not stand Princess Lia I gave the book to someone.

LMAO #10! Do do watch the show? He is even worse hahaha.

I Love the Shatter me books!
#7 America drove me so insane in the last book! She was annoying.

    #6 I was never fan a Gale.

    My TTT.

  9. Snape and Gale were both on my list this week too!

  10. I've never liked Edward - or any of the characters from Twilight for that matter lol. My TTT

  11. CLARY. God bless. She was the absolute worst, and I only read the first book of that series (I'm in the weird limbo still where I try to decide whether or not to go on). I also have to agree with that Gale nom. He served no purpose and had this gross sense of entitlement. That being said, though, I didn't much care for any of the mains so Katniss and Peeta definitely made my list this week.

Gah. I think we only differ on The Raven Boys, tbh, because I can't STAND Blue. Her eccentric family is my favorite, but she just never grew on me. I'm only saving Noah and Ronan from that series. Sink the rest!

    Awesome list and happy reading!

  12. Great list! I totally agree with Gale - he was just never a great friend to Katniss and he was just so irritating! Clary I also kind of agree with, particularly in the early books, but I have actually grown to like her over time. She'll never be one of my favourites though. I do like Simon though - but he also gets better as the books go on.

  13. I agree with you about the Shatter Me series - I couldn't stand anyone but somehow I still managed to finish it...

    Check out my TTT.
