     Wake up, Caitlin
Ever since she started going out with Rogerson Biscoe, Caitlin seems to have fallen into a semiconscious dreamland where nothing is quite real. Rogerson is different from anyone Caitlin has ever known. He's magnetic. He's compelling. He's dangerous. Being with him makes Caitlin forget about everything else--her missing sister, her withdrawn mother, her lackluster life. But what happens when being with Rogerson becomes a larger problem than being without him?

I have heard so many different things about this book from friends. I've heard for some it was their least favorite, while for others it was their favorite. I'm kind of in-between. I can see how this was a ground breaking book back then, when nothing there was hardly anything else about this subject being written.
This one was a bit darker than the other Sarah Dessen books I've read. I'd heard some thigns about this one, but I still don't think I was ready for what happened in this novel. Caitlin seemed to be completely lost and I wanted nothing more than to reach into this book and save her.
Caitlin conused me. When she met Rogerson she didn't even know what it was about him that made her like him. She was mainly intrigued by the mystery of him. So why was it so hard for her to leave him. By the end of the novel, she was completely immersed in him and for the life of me I can't see why. I wasn't disappointed in her, I was more sad for her. That she now has to grow up thinking that that is what love is supposed to be. (I know she's a fictional character but still.)
Howver, I did like the story and the way the story was told. What I didn't like was the characters. None of them seemed like they paid the slightest bit of atention to anyone besides themselves. It was just mind-boggling how they went so long without finding anything out. All while she was in thier home. I wanted to scream at them to pay attention. To look at something other than what they were missing in her sister. It was interesting because it was something that I could actually relate to, being left on the back burner. I'm the middle child and I for sure get hit with the "middle child synrdrome" all the time.
I do wonder why Dessen chose to make Corriane the strong one and not Caitlin. Why make the MC the one who is stuck on this endless loop? I really wanted to Caitlin prevail and I hated that she stuck it out till the very end. And even after when she absolutely knew that what was happening was wrong.
It seems that with this one you either love it or you hate it, and of course, I fell smack dab in the middle. It was an interesting change from what she normally writes and I can't wait to see what else Dessen has in store for me!
Overall, I give this
