From New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand, comes a novel about the many ways family can fill our lives with love...if they don't kill us first.
It's wedding season on Nantucket. The beautiful island is overrun with summer people--an annual source of aggravation for year-round residents. And that's not the only tension brewing offshore. When one lavish wedding ends in disaster before it can even begin everyone in the wedding party is suddenly a suspect. As Chief of Police Ed Kapenash digs into the best man, the maid of honor, the groom's famous mystery novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, the chief discovers that every wedding is a minefield--and no couple is perfect. Featuring beloved characters from THE CASTAWAYS and A SUMMER AFFAIR, THE PERFECT COUPLE proves once again that Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of the summer beach read.

*This book is part of the adult mystery/thriller genre! I have featured it in The Crime Scene as a way to feature the few Adult and New Adult titles I am beginning to read in this genre! There's not much of a difference, however the scenes may be more graphic and there may be more explicit scenes in some of them."

*MY THOUGHTS*

This was a complete different direction than what I usually read lol I only requested it because it looks like a light and fluffy read, but there's actually a murder mystery going on in it. It was a change from what I usually read, but I'm glad I went out on a limb to try it!
Nantucket is all dressed up for the wedding of the year... But it suddenly ends in tragedy when the maid of honor dies before the wedding. As the Chief of police speaks with everyone who was there for the wedding, he learns that no matter what he thought, no couple is perfect.
This was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be. I decided to read this because I liked the cover and was intrigued by everyone that was checking it out at work. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but this fast moving, drama filled, witty book wasn't it. I can admit that it was a bit much at times, but overall it was a quick, easy read. And coming from someone that reads mostly YA and hears from people that YA is angsty and drama-filled, after reading this, I don't want to hear that EVER AGAIN.
As for the mystery, I hated that she chose that person to be the person who did it. I called it as soon as I read about that person. It seemed like an easy out for the author and I wished it was someone else. But it was still fun to learn about everyone and their drama as we learned more about the way it all actually played out.
This book was a surprise for me. Not something I would normally read, but now I'm definitely interested in reading the others that are supposed to be companion novels to this one. I can definitely see why people call her a "queen of the summer beach read!"
Overall, I give this
