*MY THOUGHTS*
Although Dev’s book wasn’t my favorite, I still found it hard to say good-bye to this series. So much so I didn’t want to read it when it was first released. I kept starting it and putting it down because I knew I wasn’t going to have another book to look forward to. But once I started it, it was hard to put down. I finished it in two days!
Rosie is a ghost hunter and Devlin de Vincent is the rich guy whom everyone in New Orleans knows as the Devil. Everyone seems to shy away from him, but he meets his match when he meets Rosie. She's not scared of him, and she's determined to find out the truth about him.
Devlin never was my favorite of the 3 deVincents. He was a jerk throughout the entire series and I just didn't care for him. But once things started falling into place, it made so much more sense. It's reasons like this that I love JLA's books. Her characters all have so much depth and it's clear that she was thinking about this book while she was writing the first. To be able to think that far ahead and still have the plot and characters come full circle CANNOT be an easy feat. Her books always amaze me like this.
As for the romance, I wasn't as into it as I thought I'd be. Maybe it's because like I said, Dev was never my favorite, but Rosie definitely was. Idk I guess I just didn't care for them together. Maybe it was the fact that it seemed like everytime they got to be with or around each other I thought Dev ruined it. (Which is 1000% what happened) Idk. Whatever it was, something in me just didn't care for them to end up together.
As for the plot, I was hanging on to the edge of my seat when I was listening to this. I filled out my April spread in my Reading Bullet Journal while listening to this and I swear the entire afternoon passed by without me even knowing it. I lost myself in New Orleans and Rosie and her investigation team and Dev and his family. Another thing that I love about JLA's books. Her writing style is so easy and I know I can trust her to easily lose me in her books. Even if the characters aren't my favorite to begin with.
I knew this was going to be a hit or miss with me, so I wasn't surprised to kind of fall in the middle. I was so into the plot, but the characters weren't my favorite. But then again, they were SO. WELL. WRITTEN. Its going to be hard to be done with this series and I can only hope she writes more Romantic Suspense for many, many, many more years to come lol
